after the love affair

my time with the twilight saga has come to a happily-ever-after end. it's over, and time to move on.

so what's next? anyone read the lost symbol by dan brown? the long and anxiously awaited follow up to the conversial da vinci code. i think i'll check it out as it's all the rage these days. i read the da vinci code a few years ago. it was fantastic. on the edge of my seat good. hopefully the lost symbol measures up.

i'll keep you posted.

the twilight saga: when i'm wrong, i say i'm wrong.

i was positive i wouldn't get involved with the twilight craze. why would i? vampires and squealing teenagers....umm, i'll pass. so ignore the hype i did. for months and months i laughed at all the attention this silly story was getting. i turned my nose up at the movie(s) and its stars (really, we're going to talk about the 'kiss' for weeks after the awards show?). i sighed when my favorite weekly magazines (i heart usweekly and ok) featured something twilight on the cover (again). everyone had lost their mind, i'd decided, but i was going to keep on reading quality books. you know, because i had taste.

so i'm not sure what possessed me.

"look, twilight is on sale," joked my bf recently as we perused the aisles of things we didn't need in a discount store. i had a beach vacation coming up and nothing sufficiently mindless lined up to read on the trip. for some reason, i still don't know why, i decided right then that twilight would be my vacation book. i'd spent months talking smack about these books but i changed my mind. just like that.

and so it started.

it took me about ten minutes to realize i was in trouble. twilight was going to be one of those books. you know, the one you're up until all hours reading while willing your eyes to stay open for just one more chapter. all of a sudden, i was a member of team twilight. why hadn't i bought the rest of the saga?, i wondered. remember i said it was a vacation book; so there i was, in a spanish speaking country (i heart panama) with only one of four twilight series books. i'm in trouble, i realized. and i was. thank goodness twilight is a thick book, so it took several days, but i turned the last page long before it was time to go home. this was going to be a lesson in patience.

fast forward a week or so. vacation is over. only good thing about that is i'll be returning to the country and therefore able to buy the next book in the series, new moon. luck was on my side. a bookstore in the houston airport was selling it. phew...now i had some quality reading for my next flight. funny how things change.

it's taken a few weeks but i'm now about half way through the fourth and final book in the twilight saga, breaking dawn. i'm still hooked on this love story. who knew i'd be so into a tale about a bunch of teenage vampires and werewolves. certainly not me. in fact, i was certain i wouldn't be. and when i'm wrong, i say i'm wrong.

i'm still not planning on watching the twilight saga movies, though. i don't think..
